Experience Summary
Sports
I enjoy cycling and took part in a charity ride from Vietnam to Cambodia. The ride covered 660km in 6 days. In order to participate I had to raise £1,750. I play football regularly. I was a member of 2 cheerleading teams, Leeds University Celtics and Aviator Spitfires, Leeds Celtics who are currently the level 4 national cheerleading champions in the UK and Aviator Spitfires (level 5) that recently competed at World championships in America.
Travelling
I spent 9 months travelling during my gap year. I went to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos followed by 3 months in China learning martial arts whilst working in a bar, having no prior Chinese language knowledge. I then spent 3 months in America working on a summer camp with children before travelling around the United States.
Trying new things
I was part of a team that set up and ran a physics website for students; it involved giving answers to questions, whilst displaying information and helping people with their work. I spent my 3rd year studying abroad in America enjoying new challenges in different and difficult environments. I have also recently taken part in teaching primary school children to cheerlead, demonstrating the ability to transfer my skills across to others. I am currently teaching members of the team to bake to raise money in the form of a bake sale.
Miscellaneous
